Degenerative Disc Disease

Degenerative disc disease (or Osteoarthritis of the spine) is a condition everyone will get to a certain extent as we age. The exact extent or severity to which we get degenerative disc disease largely depends on how well we take care of our spines during our lifetime. Symptoms include achiness and stiffness of the neck or low back (especially after periods of inactivity like sleeping), numbness or tingling in the extremities, and sometimes even weakness or loss of reflexes in extreme cases. Chiropractic is extremely effective at slowing down or minimizing the effects of aging on the discs as well as managing the symptoms or flare ups which occur if degeneration has already set in.

In our clinic, arthritic or degenerative discs are treated with a combination of spinal decompression as well as realignment which optimizes motion in the spine, preventing or slowing down further degeneration. Treatment is both pain free and efficient, often producing some pain relief and improved range of motion immediately following a treatment. This condition is often chronic and incurable but with Chiropractic management, patients can still lead healthy and active lives well into old age.
